Seismic imaging, also known as “reflection seismology,” is an exploration method used to estimate the seismic characteristics of the Earth’s sub-surface. This technology measures reflected acoustic energy waves and is primarily utilized in Coal, Oil and Gas, and Geothermal exploration.
Seismic imaging offers Geophysicists and Geologists a means of mapping the sub-surface structure of rock formations. By interpreting the data, they can map structural features that may potentially contain minerals, hydrocarbons, or hot-rock resources.
