The acronym LOTO stands for Lock Out Tag Out. This is a common safety procedure and requirement used in the mining and other industry which consists of ensuring that a piece of equipment is locked out before conducting any task on the equipment (e.g. Mechanical or electrical). Over the years, a lot of incidents in the mining industry are related to failure of a proper lock out and tag out procedure.
The animation shows a good example of what is NOT permitted when following a LOTO procedure. Never give your lock out key to someone even when the task is near completion. Please share some examples of incorrect LOTO procedure.
