The case study covers the immediate actions when dealing with geotechnically high risk operations. Five main areas are discussed on the case study. Elimination can be achieved by re-designing the mine, substitution by de-stressing and pre-conditioning, engineering control by ground support for strain and bursts, administrative controls by exclusion procedures and zones and finally personal protective equipment by enhancing ground support for precinct scale events.
